Smart Aura lighting has proven to be versatile even in challenging lighting conditions. Although the cameras are good, the Vivo V30 Pro lacks key features including NFC and stereo speakers. The three-year Android update promise is okay, if not the best.
Design of Vivo V30 Pro
Vivo’s V series has been consistent in offering slim smartphones and the Vivo V30 Pro is no different. Despite being equipped with a thick 5,000mAh battery, it is only 7.45mm thick. It feels good in the hand, and the satin-like material on the back is very smooth. This material also does a great job of hiding fingerprint smudges and scratches.
Vivo also highlighted the improved durability features of the Vivo V30 Pro. The new V30 series features a 0.78mm wider center frame and 0.28mm higher bottom metal edge to prevent immediate damage. The metal finish on the sides adds to the sturdy look and feel.
Despite all these additions, the Vivo V30 Pro is only IP54 certified, which provides minimal protection against dust particles and water splashes.

There are no compromises on the display, at least considering the price point. I thoroughly enjoyed the reading experience on the Vivo V29 Pro and the experience remains the same with this year’s Vivo V30 Pro. The phone integrates a 6.78-inch Full-HD+ (2,800 x 1,260 pixels) AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate. The tall display is also great for watching short videos.
I didn’t encounter any issues while watching shows on the Netflix app, which supports HDR playback. Watching videos on YouTube was equally enjoyable, with 1080p premium playback available through subscription.
However, as Vivo continues to opt for a single speaker for its mid-range premium smartphones, the overall viewing experience may feel a bit lacking. Wireless headphones can deliver 3D sound, but at this price point, stereo speakers should be considered a standard feature on smartphones.

The Vivo V30 Pro uses natural colors by default in a variety of lighting conditions, but the colors may lean a little towards the cooler side. This approach ensures that the photo doesn’t become overly saturated, but users can easily adjust this by switching to Vivid camera mode.
The Natural Zeiss mode adds depth to shadows, giving the overall photo quality a bit of drama. These modes are easily accessible and can be switched using a simple toggle.
Photos using the main camera and ultra-wide camera maintain white balance well. Dynamic range is advantageous even under ideal lighting conditions. Details are sharp, but sometimes you can see an emulsifying effect that softens the grain. The portrait camera with 2x zoom delivers consistent colors, but edge detection is a bit iffy.
All three cameras perform well in low-light conditions, but Portrait mode may fail. Aura Smart can be a great help in focusing on your subject, but edge detection again needs improvement. We also compared the results with the same photo taken with the Vivo V29 Pro, and the Vivo V30 Pro provided better dynamic range and details.
We were also impressed with the 50MP front camera’s ability to capture accurate skin tones in a variety of lighting conditions. The 2x zoom feature of the front camera increases its usability in certain situations. Vivo further differentiates itself by supporting 4K recording at 60fps for both front and rear cameras.
Additionally, the ultra-stable mode supported by OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) ensures reliable performance for capturing stable footage with the main camera.
V30 Pro Performance
As mentioned earlier, Vivo has chosen the MediaTek Dimensity 8200 SoC for the Vivo V30 Pro. This SoC is the same chipset featured in the last two generations of Vivo V series phones. The variant I am reviewing includes 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. The base variant comes in 8GB RAM + 256GB storage configuration.
Vivo V30 Pro Battery Life
The Vivo V30 Pro has thick 5,000mAh of powerful battery and it retains respectable 80W charging support and the difference in battery size also makes a big difference. In broad terms, you can adjust the refresh rate and disable AOD with a smart switch and you’ll get a battery that lasts all day.
The PCMark battery test also achieved respectable numbers (16 hours) with brightness at 50% and flight mode enabled. Using the bundled 80W charger, the Vivo V30 Pro can charge 57% in just 30 minutes. A full charge takes approximately 45 minutes.
Software of Vivo V30 Pro
I didn’t experience any app crashes during my short period of use. FunTouch 14, based on Android 14, feels more refined and lighter. Although the curved display can sometimes lead to mistakes, we were able to play demanding titles including GTA San Andreas and BGMI without stuttering.
There are some pre-installed apps, but there are relatively few of them compared to previous Vivo V series phones. You still cannot delete the default Android or Vivo apps.
It is worth noting that Vivo is promising three years of Android updates. This is a decent promise, if not the best. It goes without saying that Vivo may consider adding a new chipset to the Vivo V30 Pro. If not, some native generated AI-assisted functionality would have given it an edge.
